Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein sticks closely to Mary Shelley’s original tale—man creates monster, monster gets rejected and fights back—while peeling back layers of generational trauma to give the story a fresh, emotionally resonant heartbeat. Del Toro swaps in a few new characters and clips out minor ones, but purists won’t miss a beat.
Visually, it’s a hauntingly beautiful spectacle that carves new depth into classic themes. Catch its limited theatrical run on October 17, then dive into the full Netflix release on November 7.
