Benny Safdie’s latest keeps his signature, no-holds-barred gaze on obsessive characters but somehow packs fewer gut-punches than his previous outings. It’s still gritty and grounded, just missing that extra knockout punch.

Starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt under the A24 banner, the film’s already raking in Oscar whispers and festival standing ovations. But despite all the face-punching action, you might find it’s biting off more style than substance.
