Christopher Nolan’s long-anticipated epic The Odyssey has finally wrapped six months of globe-trotting shoots—from Italy and Greece to Morocco, Iceland and beyond—with supervising art director Samantha Englender confirming the finale on her Instagram Story. The film reimagines Homer’s classic tale of Odysseus’s ten-year trek home after the Trojan War, facing monsters, suitors and mythic deities along the way.
Headlined by Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope (with Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and more in supporting roles), the $250 million production uses cutting-edge IMAX cameras under Hoyte Van Hoytema’s lens. Tickets for the July 17, 2026 release sold out in 24 hours, and resellers already have IMAX seats listed well over $1,000 a pair.
