Smallville completely rebooted the Man of Steel’s backstory, giving us everything from the pilot (complete with a Christopher Reeve cameo) through a bombastic two-hour series finale after ten seasons. Along the way it leaned heavily on a “freak-of-the-week” formula, kept Clark in his street clothes instead of the iconic suit, and ended up reshaping Superman lore across the entire DC universe.
The show’s influence lives on in CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, an official Season 11 comic series and even an upcoming animated spin-off.
