‘Duster’ Gets the Axe on HBO Max After Just One Season
After a five-year build-up and a solid creative team (J.J. Abrams, LaToya Morgan and Bad Robot), HBO Max quietly decided not to renew its ’70s crime drama for a sophomore run. The Josh Holloway–Rachel Hilson series bowed out less than a week after its Season 1 finale dropped.
Critics and early fans loved it—Duster sits at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and even carved out a spot in HBO Max’s daily Top 10—but it never cracked Nielsen’s streaming originals Top 10 or made much noise on Luminate’s charts. Solid reviews weren’t enough to sway the numbers.
