Jon Stewart isn’t losing sleep over the possibility that Skydance’s takeover of Paramount could spell the end for The Daily Show, joking on his podcast, “I’ve been kicked out of s–ttier establishments than that,” and insisting he’ll “land on our feet.” He reckons that if Skydance looks at the show as a business asset, it’s worth keeping—given that only a handful of other programs (like South Park) still drive buzz for Comedy Central—but admits they might just “sell the whole f–king place for parts.”
His nonchalance follows his recent on-air criticism of Paramount settling a $16 million lawsuit with Trump over a “60 Minutes” segment on Kamala Harris. On The Daily Show and The Weekly Show podcast, Stewart quipped that the Trump settlement “sounds illegal” (he’s “obviously not a lawyer, but I did watch Goodfellas”) and questioned why Paramount didn’t fight it harder to protect its own interests.
