Comedy Central’s new top dog George Cheeks is giving zero hints about whether Jon Stewart will stick around once his Daily Show deal expires in December. Stewart himself quipped on air, “I’m not going anywhere—I think,” but Cheeks, who just canned Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, won’t commit either way just yet.
In his first public stint as the go-to exec after Paramount’s Skydance merger, Cheeks said it’s still “day one” of the new regime and no decisions on renewals have been made. He even admitted he wasn’t sure where he stands with Colbert—despite calling himself “a huge fan” at a recent press conference.
