Noah Wyle is back on the Emmy radar after a 26-year hiatus—this time snagging his first-ever nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Max’s medical drama The Pitt. You might remember him as John Carter from ER, where he was a five-time Supporting Actor nominee from 1995–99—now he’s come full circle as both star and executive producer alongside fellow ER alums.

The Pitt landed 13 nominations in its freshman season (including supporting actress, guest actor, makeup and directing nods), and Wyle’s biggest roadblock in the lead category could be Adam Scott for Severance. The 77th Primetime Emmys air Sept. 14 on CBS and Paramount+, hosted by Nate Bargatze.
