Instead, Green leaned on the South Park playbook: they’ve leaned into one-off half-hour specials (think famous Star Wars episodes) to keep the 20-year-old stop-motion hit alive and economically viable, kicking off the franchise’s big anniversary with a standalone special rather than a full slate of episodes.
