Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for playing Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, tragically died at 54 while vacationing in Costa Rica. TMZ reports he got caught in a strong ocean current and drowned, despite bystanders rushing in and Costa Rican Red Cross efforts. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second person was also injured and taken to a clinic in critical condition.

Warner’s career spanned sitcom hits like Malcolm & Eddie, voicing “The Magic School Bus,” and even snagging a Grammy in 2015. Most recently he hosted the podcast Not All Hood—his latest episode dropped just days ago. He leaves behind a wife and daughter, whose names he always kept out of the spotlight. R.I.P.
