The Last of Us Season 3 just lost another key player: Westworld alum Halley Gross, who co-wrote Part II and helped shape Seasons 1–2, confirmed she’s stepping away from the HBO show to make room for some “rad projects” ahead. Her exit follows co-creator Neil Druckmann’s recent decision to hand off showrunner duties so he can focus on Naughty Dog’s next big IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Together, their departures represent a major creative shake-up as the series heads into its third run. Both Gross and Druckmann took time to thank the cast, crew and fans for bringing Ellie and Joel’s world to life—and promised they’ll be cheering the show on from the sidelines.
