Season 3 of HBO’s The Last of Us is already hitting turbulence as Halley Gross—the Westworld alum who co-wrote The Last of Us Part II with Neil Druckmann—has announced she’s stepping away from the show’s writers’ room. Gross, a core creative from Day 1, shared a heartfelt note about making space for “what comes next” while praising the cast, crew and stories they’ve told.
Her exit follows co-showrunner Druckmann’s decision to bow out of Seasons 3 and 4 to refocus on Naughty Dog projects (including a new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet). With both original architects gone, fans are curious who’ll steer Ellie and Joel’s next chapter.
