Marvel’s The Punisher Special Presentation just wrapped an “impossible” 12-day shoot in New York, capped off with Jon Bernthal’s heartfelt on-set speech thanking cast and crew. Bernthal, who reprises Frank Castle from Daredevil: Born Again, is already off to London to suit up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and fans even got a first glimpse at his new tactical skull vest.
Details on the story are still hush-hush, but leaks suggest a showdown with crime matriarch Ma Gnucci (rumored Judith Light), straight out of Garth Ennis’ Marvel Knights run. Bernthal co-wrote the script with director Reinaldo Marcus Green, and Marvel’s streaming boss Bard Winderbaum raves that this standalone Punisher is “a shotgun blast of a story” packed with the grit and emotion Castle deserves.
